Arturo, uno spacciatore di spazzatura settantaquattrenne che ha passato la vita a riparare cose rotte,
scopre di essere gravemente malato. I suoi figli adulti, Anna ed Ernesto, cercano di trovare un modo per
prendersi cura di lui, decidendo infine — con riluttanza — di riportarlo a vivere con la sua ex moglie, Miranda.
Ma Miranda ha l'Alzheimer e non si ricorda piĂą di lui. Per evitare di confonderla, Arturo deve fingere di essere
un lontano cugino bisognoso di un posto dove stare. Vivendo sotto lo stesso tetto dopo trent'anni di distanza,
i due attraversano un tempo strano e sospeso. Nel ritmo delle loro giornate condivise — una colazione,
un'ombra nel corridoio, una canzone del passato — qualcosa di sottile cambia. La memoria tremola come
la luce nella polvere e la tenerezza dimenticata ritrova la strada. Attraverso la lente della malattia
e dell'invecchiamento, “Oltre la memoria” diventa una meditazione sull'amore, sul tempo e sull'identità .
La storia offusca il confine tra ciò che viene ricordato e ciò che viene immaginato, tra ciò che una volta era
e ciò che avrebbe potuto essere. Arturo arriva a capire che non tutto ciò che è rotto può essere
riparato — eppure, restando vicino a Miranda, scopre che l'amore stesso può offrire una forma tranquilla

Arturo, a seventy-four-year-old junk dealer who has spent his life repairing broken things, discovers he is gravely ill. His adult children, Anna and Ernesto, try to find a way to care for him, eventually deciding — reluctantly — to bring him back to live with his former wife, Miranda.
But Miranda has Alzheimer’s and no longer remembers him. To avoid confusing her, Arturo must pretend to be a distant cousin in need of a place to stay.
Living under the same roof after thirty years apart, the two move through a strange, suspended time. In the rhythm of their shared days — a breakfast, a shadow in the corridor, a song from the past — something subtle shifts. Memory flickers like light through dust, and forgotten tenderness finds its way back.
Through the lens of illness and aging, “Beyond memory” becomes a meditation on love, time, and identity. The story blurs the line between what is remembered and what is imagined, between what once was and what could have been.
